Let’s Yarn About Sleep (LYAS) is Australia’s first sleep health equity program that aims to deliver culturally responsive programs and services to improve the sleep of First Nations peoples. Centred on community leadership, local capacity building, and the integration of Western and Indigenous Knowledges, the LYAS program aims to support holistic sleep health practices. The Sleep Health Foundation is proud to be a partner organisation and look forward to being able to have culturally specific and culturally sensitive resources on sleep for First Nations communities all around the nation.

Led by A/Prof Yaqoot Fatima, this series of research projects focused on adolescent sleep as well as sleep-disordered breathing has attracted many government grants. Fatima and team have also won a number of awards for this innovative an collaborative work. Fatima was announced the overall winner at the University of Queensland’s Research Partnership and Translation Awards, as well as the recipient of the Early-Mid Career Industry Engagement Winner. It was a proud moment for our CEO to be invited by Fatima to the awards ceremony to receive the award alongside her.
