Associate Professor Svetlana Postnova leads the Chronophysics Group in the School of Physics, University of Sydney. Her interests are in brain dynamics and interaction between the brain, body, and environment. Specific topics include sleep-wake cycles, cognition, and circadian rhythms. She uses methods from physics, mathematics, and data science to develop quantitative models of brain dynamics and unify those with experimental data with the aim to explain mechanisms and design tools for health monitoring and disease prevention.

A/Prof Postnova developed models of sleep and alertness and translated those into tools for applications in shiftwork management (e.g., see https://www.alertnessapi.com/). She is a co-leader of the Occupational Health program for the Industry Research & Collaboration Committee, and a co-chair of the Computational Nanomedicine cluster at the Nano Health Network at Sydney Nano.
