Dr Jenny Haycock

Co-Chair, Lived Experience member

Jenny Haycock is a Research Associate at the Adelaide Institute for Sleep Health, Flinders University, and has lived experience being the parent of a child with chronic insomnia.

My interest in sleep disorders came from my personal experience with my son who was diagnosed with chronic insomnia as a child. After seeing the significant impact this sleep disorder had on my child’s health and wellbeing, I developed a keen interest in sleep health.

My interest in sleep disorders continued to develop and I recently completed a PhD investigating the diagnosis and management of insomnia in Australia, looking at issues from the perspectives of people with insomnia and health care providers.

I am currently employed as a researcher at the Adelaide Institute for Sleep Health, Flinders University. My main research interest areas are improving access to care for people with sleep disorders, research in primary care, research translation and implementation science. Community engagement and research collaboration are very important to me, ensuring the voices of people with lived experience are included is essential to make sure research is meaningful and addressing the important issues. Collectively we can work together to improve the quality of life for millions of people with sleep disorders.
